ESL读写班

This course mainly focuses on reading and writing while the students will also be expected to practice using target grammar structuresand theme-related vocabulary in writing. Considering this aim, a skills-based syllabus in which the micro-skills of reading and writing are practiced is adopted.


The reading texts help students generate ideas for writing and learn theme-related vocabulary to be used in written production. Moreover, the same objectives are revised throughout the course to help students internalize these key skills. A process approach to writing is followed in the course. Both peer and teacher feedback is an integral part of this course. Mostly group or pair work activities are promoted in class.


As the determining factor for materials selected in EAP is learner needs, it is difficult to find one perfect book to help teachers meet students’ needs. Therefore, teachers need to modify and adapt materials to better cater to learner needs. That is why materials from a variety of sources are chosen and adapted in this course.
